THE SOUTHERN COALITION MOVEMENT

Southern Coalition Movement

The Southern Coalition Movement is a network started by Mr. J. Shields from Memphis, TN. The purpose of the movement is to establish a working network of professional promoters, record labels, producers, artists, models, web/graphic designers, video producers, photographers and more. The S.C.M. is an in-house network system with the goals of creating wealth, and unity promotion. This network system stretches nationwide.

While the name says it is the "Southern" Coalition Movement, this network system stretches nationwide. Mr. Shields puts it as "Would you not eat Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) just because you aren't from Kentucky? Likewise, you don't have to be from the South to join the Southern Coalition Movement." When you join the movement, you get access to contact information for other artists, models, photographers, dancers, etc. who share your interest. If you are an artist looking for a model for your upcoming video, you go to the website and search for models in your area and contact them. Likewise, if you need graphic work, don't search all over the net for hours, just go to the Southern Coalition Movement website and type in "Graphic Design." You would be amazed at the loads of information you would find on one site.

The Southern Coalition Movement also has it's own Worldwide royalty paying radio station and Nationwide Magazine. Every year, the Southern Coalition Movement hosts a neighborhood block party called Summer Crunkness in which school supplies are given to all children who attend and can goods are collected and donated to the Memphis Food Bank. Summer Crunkness is a free neighborhood concert/picnic located in South Memphis at Belz Park (99 Ila Lane). Annual performing artists include Fiend, of New Orleans, LA, La Chat, Yung Kee, and Miscellaneous of Memphis, TN, Lil Chuckee of Young Money and more.

The Southern Coalition Movement also hosts the annual Knocdown-SCM Awards in November. This award honors the most achieved Underground, Independent and Major Artists, Producers, Deejays, Designers, Models, and more. The Knocdown-SCM Awards is not just an award for the Hip-Hop community, but also includes Rock and Pop.
